Route 9 resurfacing project requires overnight lane closures in Burlington and Ocean Counties
Alternating lane closures necessary

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced overnight lane closures on approximately 10 miles of Route 9 for milling and paving work in Burlington and Ocean Counties.

Beginning tonight, Monday, March 28 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, March 29 and continuing weeknights until the fall of 2016, NJDOT’s contractor, A.E. Stone Inc. is scheduled to temporarily close alternating lanes for resurfacing along Route 9 starting from the Garden State Parkway ramp in Bass River, Burlington County, and continuing north through Little Egg Harbor, Tuckerton and stopping before Westecunk Creek in Eagleswood, Ocean County.

The $3.7 million state-funded milling and paving project on Route 9 is expected to be completed by fall 2016. In addition to milling and paving work, there will be safety improvements along Route 9 including Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance work and traffic signal improvements at the following two intersections; Route 9/Maple Avenue in Bass River, and Route 9/Green Street in Tuckerton.

NJDOT has designed the resurfacing work to be performed as a moving operation, closing only one side of the roadway at a time. It is expected the project will require local street detours at times at signalized intersections. All detours will be coordinated with the local authorities.

Variable message signs and detour signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the resurfacing project. Throughout the project, NJDOT will provide information before upcoming road or ramp closures.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info.
