Route 206 alternating traffic necessary for bridge replacement project in Hammonton
Lane closures require traffic shift in Atlantic County
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced alternating traffic pattern on Route 206 for Stage 2 of construction to replace two bridges in Hammonton, Atlantic County.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, September 12, and continuing until late 2016, NJDOT’s contractor, Midlantic Construction, LLC., is scheduled to implement an alternating traffic pattern maintaining one 11-foottravel lane utilizing temporary traffic signals on Route 206 between Clarks Creek Bridge and the Sleepers Brook Bridge. Both bridges are being replace, with the majority of the work being performed overnight to minimalize any inconvenience to motorists.
The $5.2 million federal and state-funded project will replace the two bridges spanning over Clarks Creek and Sleepers Brook with new 40.5 feet wide precast concrete culverts and parapets at each location. There also will be roadway improvements on each of the bridge approaches. The project will consist of three stages. The project is expected to be completed by spring 2017.
Variable message signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the bridge replacement project. Throughout the project, NJDOT will provide information before upcoming road closures.
