Route 33 full weekend closure necessary for sewer infrastructure work in Neptune

Detour required for sanitary sewer installation project


(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the full closure of Route 33 to allow for sanitary sewer infrastructure work in Neptune, Monmouth County. 

Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, May 19 until 5 a.m. Monday, May 22, contractors LF Driscoll Co. LLC. and V.A. Spatz will close and detour Route 33 between Neptune Boulevard and Route 35 for utility work. This work is part of the North Taylor Avenue, Washington Avenue and Union Avenue sanitary improvements project, a joint-partnership between Neptune Township and the Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The following detours will remain in place:

Route 33/Corlies Avenue westbound Detour

  • Motorists traveling westbound on Route 33/Corlies Avenue will be directed to make a right onto Route 35 northbound
  • Make a left onto Heck Avenue
  • Make a left onto Neptune Boulevard to Route 33/Corlies Avenue

Route 33/Corlies Avenue eastbound Detour

  • Motorists traveling eastbound on Route 33/Corlies Avenue will be directed to make a left onto Neptune Avenue
  • Make a right onto Heck Avenue
  • Make a right onto Route 35 southbound to Route 33/Corlies Avenue

Route 35 southbound Detour

  • Motorists on Route 35 southbound will be directed to make a right onto Bangs Avenue
  • Make a left on Neptune Avenue to Route 33/Corlies Avenue

Route 35 northbound Detour

  • Motorists on Route 35 northbound will be directed to make a left onto Heck Avenue
  • Make a left on Neptune Avenue to Route 33/Corlies Avenue

The traffic detour will be coordinated by the local police. Construction message signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the sewer installation work.
