Railroad-crossing repairs begin in Bogota

Necessary safety work will require road closure and detours


(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require a five-day closure and detour of West Fort Lee Road in Borough, Bergen County.

Beginning at 7 a.m., Monday, May 21 until 7 p.m. Friday, May 25, the two-way traffic on West Fort Lee Road is scheduled to be closed and detoured at the railroad crossing. The existing railroad crossing will be removed and replaced with a new concrete crossing and asphalt approach.

The following detours will be in place:

West Fort Lee Road/Court Street westbound detour:
  • Motorists traveling on West Fort Lee Road/Court Street westbound will turn right onto River Road
  • Left onto West Main Street merging into Salem Street Extension
  • Left onto River Street
  • Left onto West Fort Lee Road/Court Street
Court Street/West Fort Lee Road eastbound detour:
  • Motorists traveling on Court Street/ West Fort Lee Road eastbound will turn left onto River Street
  • Right onto Midtown Bridge Street merging onto West Main Street
  • Right onto river Road

In order to provide safer and smoother railroad crossing in Bogota Borough, Bergen County, the existing crossings will be replaced with new concrete crossings and new asphalt approaches. This federally funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program that repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide.
