Route 130 southbound weekend detour necessary for Raccoon Creek Bridge project in Gloucester County

Lane closures required as bridge and
highway improvements advance

(Trenton) -New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced temporary detour to implement a traffic shift this weekend on Route 130 southbound, allowing the Raccoon Creek Bridge replacement and pavement rehabilitation project to advance in Logan, Gloucester County.

Beginning at 10 p.m. tonight, Friday, June 8 until 9 a.m. tomorrow and again from 10 p.m. Saturday, June 9 until 9 a.m. the next day, NJDOT’s contractor, PKF Mark III, Inc., is expected to close lanes to move and install construction barriers for milling, paving and restriping of the roadway on Route 130 southbound at the Raccoon Creek Bridge.

Once the traffic shift is in place, the new traffic configuration will remain for several months as work on the second half of the bridge begins. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. The following detour will be in place.

Route 130 southbound Detour:
(From 10 p.m. Friday June 8 until 9 a.m. Saturday, and 10 p.m. Saturday June 9 until 9.a.m Sunday.)

  • From Route 130 southbound motorists will be directed to take the Route 322 eastbound/Glassboro exit at the interchange
  • Take I-295 southbound
  • Take Exit 10 for Center Square Road
  • Turn right and follow Center Square Road/CR 620 to Route 130
NJDOT has designed work on the $53 million federally-funded Raccoon Creek Bridge replacement and pavement rehabilitation project to be performed in stages. The project, which began in June 2016, is expected to be completed in late 2019.

Portable variable message signs are being utilized to provide advance notification to the motoring public of all traffic pattern changes associated with the work.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weatheror other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info or on the NJDOT Facebook page.
