Murphy Administration announces $1 million in Bikeway grants to help control local property taxes

Three grants will advance local bikeway projects

(Trenton) - The Murphy Administration today announced three Bikeway Grants totaling $1 million to help municipalities and counties advance Bikeway projects.

These, as well as other Local Aid state-funded grant programs benefit residents by enabling local governments to significantly reduce or eliminate reliance on local property tax dollars to support their projects building infrastructure for all modes of transportation. This year NJDOT will deliver $164.25 million in funded grant programs to over 95 percent of New Jersey’s municipalities and counties.

“The Murphy Administration continues to understand the importance of the Local Bikeway program and has made it a priority to maintain high funding levels for these Local Aid grant programs that help build safety and quality-of-life projects for the biking community,” said NJDOT Commissioner Diane Gutierrez Scaccetti

Three municipalities were granted a total of $1 million available for the Fiscal Year 2019 Bikeway grant program. The grants announced today will be awarded to the following three municipalities;

• Somers Point, Atlantic County:          $130,000.00
• Lawrence, Mercer County:                 $370,000.00
• Garfield, Bergen County:                    $500,000.00
