I-287 northbound ramp to Route 1 northbound closed and detoured overnight in Edison

Detour required for preventative bridge maintenance and joint repair

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the overnight closure and detour of the I-287 northbound ramp to Route 1 northbound for bridge deck repairs in Edison, Middlesex County.

NJDOT’s contractor, Power Concrete Company, Inc. is scheduled to close and detour the I-287 north ramp/Exit 1A to Route 1 north to install a new, permanent bridge deck joint repair replacing a temporary patch. The detour will begin at 11 p.m. tonight, Monday, April 15 until 5 a.m. the next day, and continue nightly until Wednesday, April 17. The road will be reopened if work is completed earlier than scheduled.

I-287 northbound ramp to Route 1 northbound overnight detour:
(11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, April 15 – Wednesday, April 17)

• Motorists traveling on I-287 northbound wishing to travel to Route 1 north/Newark will be directed to continue on I-287 northbound to the next exit ramp, Exit 1B/Route 1 south/Trenton
• Take Exit 1B onto Route 1 southbound to the first exit
• Take Exit I-287 south/Raritan Center/Perth Amboy
• Take I-287 south to Exit 1A/Route 1 north/Newark

Construction signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the bridge deck repair.
