11th Avenue to be closed and detoured for railroad-crossing repairs next week in Neptune, Monmouth County
Necessary safety work will require detours
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the start of a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require a seven-day closure and detour of 11th Avenue next week in Neptune, Monmouth County.
Beginning at 8 a.m., Thursday, August 22, until 7 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 11th Avenue will be closed and detoured in both directions at the railroad crossing to remove the existing crossing and replace it with a new concrete crossing, as well as new asphalt approaches. The following detours will be in place:
11th Avenue eastbound detour
- Motorists traveling on Memorial Drive that wish to turn onto 11th Avenue will be directed to continue north on Memorial Drive.
- Turn right onto Corlies Avenue/Route 33.
- Turn right onto South Main Street/Route 71 southbound.
- Turn right onto 11th Avenue.
11th Avenue westbound detour
- Motorists traveling on South Main Street/Route 71 that wish to turn left onto 11th Avenue will be directed to continue north on South Main Street/Route 71.
- Turn left onto Corelis Avenue/Route 33 westbound.
- Turn left onto Memorial Drive.
- Turn right onto 11th Avenue.
The traffic detours will be coordinated with the local police. If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly.
