The Middle Valley Historic District consists of 107 contributing resources and is significant in the areas of Agriculture, Architecture, Commerce and Industry, and Community Development and Planning. Among these is the Middle Valley Community Center, a modestly scaled but noteworthy clapboard hall with bell tower, arguably the most recognizable building in the small hamlet. Constructed in the first quarter of the nineteenth century as a general store also housing the community’s first post office, the original building measured approximately 38 by 24 feet. The building continued to function as a general store until 1891, when the property was purchased by the Middle Valley Hall Association from then-owner Jacob Welsh for the purpose of establishing a community meeting place. In 1904 the bell tower and presumably the porch was added. The building is currently owned by the non-profit Middle Valley Community Center, Inc. (MVCC), the successor to the Middle Valley Hall Association, and hosts community events such as book fairs, concerts, and meetings.

The 2024 Trust grant will help fund the replacement of the failing roof from corrugated metal to wood shingle.
