FY 2021 Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants
FEMA Announces 2021 FMA and BRIC Grants
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is announcing $1,160,000,000 billion in funding is available through two Fiscal Year 2021 Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) grant programs: $1 billion is available in the new Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) and $160 million is available in Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA). These competitive grant programs assist state, tribal and territorial governments to reduce disaster losses and protect life and property from future disaster damages.
Potential applicants can review the specifics of the FY21 FMA and BRIC programs in the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) which includes details such as eligibility, funding guidelines and evaluation criteria. The NOFO for FMA and BRIC is available online at https://www.fema.gov/grants/mitigation/fy2021-nofo and additional information is available at FEMA.gov.
We would like to remind you that complete applications for 2021 FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) and Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grants are due to NJOEM through FEMA Grants Outcome (GO) by COB November 15, 2021. NJOEM Mitigation Unit staff must review, revise and coordinate with other State agencies before submitting final complete application packages through the Attorney General's office prior to the January 28, 2022 FEMA deadline. We encourage all applicants to submit applications through FEMA GO as early as possible due to the short time frame and turnaround of applications.
We're here to help! If you have any questions, please contact the NJOEM Mitigation Unit at (609) 963-6900 X 6208 or NJMitigation@njsp.org.
