Intersection Improvement Program

The purpose of the Intersection Improvement Program (IIP) is to significantly reduce the frequency and severity of overall crashes and specific crash types occurring at intersections on the state highway system.

This program identifies intersections that appear to exhibit operational, geometric, and driver expectancy shortcomings, and implements countermeasures aimed at reducing the number and severity of crashes at those locations. Under a systemic implementation, countermeasures may be undertaken for a group of locations that exhibit similar characteristics.
