Course Description

Employing the basic competencies of Emotional Intelligence (E.I.) will enhance your personal and professional lives by enabling you to better understand your emotions, have empathy for others, and build relationships within the workplace. However, the overuse of E.I. can have an adverse effect when exploited to manipulate or over-influence others. In this one-day course, participants will come to know what Emotional Intelligence is and what it is not. The importance of mindset will be explored and its impacts on life experiences. By developing an awareness of personal triggers and practicing E.I. strategies, participants will create a personal action plan to improve their Emotional Quotient (E.Q.).

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand what Emotional Intelligence (E.I.) is and what it is not.
  • Comprehend the benefits of being more Emotionally Intelligent professionally and personally.
  • Explore the domains and competencies of E.I.
  • Understand how E.I. can be a foundation skill for navigating with others in the workplace.
  • Develop an awareness of “feelings and trigger points” for E.I.
  • Review mindset and distinguish how a growth mindset can positively impact work and life, vs. a fixed mindset, which can stall or hold back work and life experiences.
  • Use E.I. to grasp the effects of emotional bias, prejudice, and stereotyping.
  • Comprehend the “counterargument or counterbalance” to E.I. which demonstrates how E.I. can be overused to manipulate and over-influence others.
