Attorney General's Executive Leadership Team

The Attorney General oversees the Department of Law & Public Safety with the support of his executive leadership team. The team advises the Attorney General on legal, policy, and administrative matters and assists with the day-to-day supervision of the Department’s divisions and initiatives.

Melanie Armstrong

Senior Counsel to the Attorney General

Melanie Armstrong is an Assistant Attorney General, with the title of Counsel to the Attorney General. She previously served as the Director of the Division of Civil Rights for the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Public Contract Assistance for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Earlier in her career, she served as a Deputy Attorney General in the Division of Law’s Correction and State Police Section and as Special Assistant to the Director of the Law Enforcement component of Governor Corzine’s Safe Streets, Safe Neighborhoods Strategy. She graduated from the College of New Jersey and Villanova University School of Law.
