NJ Flag Status

Thursday, May 12, 2022 and Return to Full Staff at Sunset on Monday, May 16, 2022 — All Flags Half-Staff

As a mark of respect and remembrance of the one million American lives lost to COVID-19, the President has issued a statement and ordered the flag to be flown at half-staff beginning immediately and return to full staff at sunset on Monday, May 16, 2022.

The Presidential Proclamation

 

Since December 2015, NJSA 52:3-12.1 requires the Office of the Secretary of State create and maintain an electronic notification system alerting the public when US and State flags are to be flown at half-staff.

 

Flag Lowering Scheduled By Statute

Peace Officers Memorial Day
If the 15th falls on the third Saturday of May, which is Armed Forced Day, the flags are not to be lowered.
