HADDONFIELD, NJ - From 12:00 – 2:00pm on May 4, 2025, Downtown Haddonfield will host RevolutionNJ for an installment of Tavern Talks at Kings Road Brewing located at 131 Kings Hwy E, Haddonfield, NJ. This immersive history event invites participants to engage with historical interpreters as they uncover who is a Patriot, who is a Loyalist, and why some might be neither.
Established through legislation in 2018, RevolutionNJ is the official partnership between the New Jersey Historical Commission and the non-profit Crossroads of the American Revolution to commemorate America’s 250th in 2026.
“Tavern Talks is the perfect blend of history and entertainment,” said Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way who oversees the New Jersey Historical Commission in her role as Secretary of State. “As we head towards America’s 250th, I hope New Jerseyans will take advantage of these opportunities to learn more about our shared past and discover why New Jersey was revolutionary in 1776 and has been ever since.”
“Nationally recognized as an example of creative history programming, Tavern Talks has become one of RevolutionNJ’s most popular offerings,” said Sara Cureton, executive director of the New Jersey Historical Commission. “The program’s success lies in its ability to showcase the complexity of history in a relaxed and comfortable environment. We are grateful to Kings Road Brewing and Downtown Haddonfield for bringing Tavern Talks to Camden County.”
In addition to Tavern Talks, attendees will have the option to join a free tour of the nearby Indian King Tavern State Historic Site beginning at 11:00am, browse local history organization and vendor tables, and try a limited brew inspired by George Washington’s “small beer” recipe.
“By staging history events at breweries, we can share stories of our past while bringing new audiences to local businesses,” said Carrie Fellows, executive director of the non-profit Crossroads of the American Revolution. “Our Tavern Talks program is a prime example of how RevolutionNJ builds collaborative partnerships and engaging heritage tourism opportunities.”
