Dr. Semaj Y. Vanzant, Sr. is a visionary leader, theologian, and organizational strategist uniquely equipped to serve as Executive Director of the New Jersey Faith Action Center. With over a decade of experience designing and leading initiatives that strengthen communities, Dr. Vanzant brings a rare blend of ministry leadership, nonprofit innovation, and systems-level thinking to this role.

He currently serves as President of the General Baptist Convention of New Jersey, one of the largest faith networks in the state, representing nearly 250 churches across all 21 counties and more than 300,000 constituents. This leadership position reflects both his credibility and his deep, trusted relationships with faith leaders statewide.

Dr. Vanzant is also the Founder of Encounter Christ Global Fellowship and Co-Founder of Inspire Life, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth and families. Through his consulting firm, he has advised churches, nonprofits, and institutions on capacity building, strategic planning, and cultural transformation, helping organizations move from vision to measurable impact.

His academic training, including degrees from Gannon University, Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry focused on cultivating communities of love and grace, grounds his work in both theory and practice.

The Faith Action Center is designed to move beyond coordination into action, serving as a central hub that strengthens faith-based institutions and connects them to critical resources and partnerships. Dr. Vanzant’s leadership, relationships, and proven ability to align diverse stakeholders position him to successfully bring this vision to life for communities across New Jersey.
